Yes, you have heard that term constantly and in an industry that is truly based on change with no time at all to even wear all the clothes between pre fall and cruise. What really is timeless fashion? Is it a term that is loosely used, and a tad bit cliché, without us really knowing what timeless fashion is? Also is anybody really designing timeless fashion anymore or are people more focused on fast fashion. Or will the fashion being created now only become timeless 20 years from now. Who are we to judge, in an industry that is so controlled by time, do we ever stop to remember the time less pieces and fashion?

When I think of timeless fashion, the first few names and images that pop in my mind, are YVES SAINT LAURENT’s Le Smoking tuxedo, or the Valentino Red Era. To me timeless fashion is something that made an impact on the world and something that can be passed on and worn again and again. Timeless fashion doesn’t just have to be portrayed through a designer, but also can be an image or a woman. Strong images that have made an outfit timeless, like Jacqueline Kennedy’s pink Chanel Suit she wore the tragic day JFK was shot, or the flannel shirt that became Kurt Cobain’s staple piece can also be an example of timeless fashion.
Essentially the answer is in your hands and you are the one who decides what timeless fashion should be. Whatever it is that you have had in your closet the longest that can still be worn today is considered timeless. In an industry that is consumed by hierarchy at the end it really is you the consumer that is the main dictator.
